Meet-and-greet is a premium airport transfer option where your driver (or a designated greeter) waits inside the arrivals hall — usually near the customs exit or a agreed meeting point — holding a name board. Instead of following signs to a car park or rank, you walk directly to your representative and are escorted to the vehicle.
On Airport Transfers Taxi, meet-and-greet can be requested when booking certain arrivals, subject to airport rules and additional charge. Standard bookings typically use designated private hire pickup zones with driver contact details supplied in your confirmation.
What is included?
Typically included: monitoring your flight (when a flight number is provided), waiting time within agreed limits after landing, assistance with trolley luggage to the car, and a fixed route price to your destination. Not included unless agreed: excess waiting beyond policy, additional stops, or porter services inside the terminal.
UK airports have strict rules about where private hire vehicles can wait. Meet-and-greet does not mean the car waits at the kerb indefinitely — it means the person meets you, then you proceed to the lawful pickup point together.
When it is worth the extra cost
- First-time visitors to Heathrow, Gatwick, or Manchester
- Elderly passengers or travellers with reduced mobility
- Business guests where presentation and smooth handover matter
- Families with young children and multiple bags
- Late-night arrivals when you want minimal navigation stress
When standard pickup is fine
Frequent flyers who know terminal layouts, solo travellers with hand luggage only, or budget-conscious leisure trips often prefer standard kerbside or short-walk pickup. You still benefit from pre-booking: fixed fare, licensed driver, and flight number on file.
Compare both options at checkout or ask our team when booking corporate arrivals for clients.
How to request meet-and-greet
Select meet-and-greet in booking notes or contact us before travel with your flight number, terminal, and mobile number. We will confirm availability and any supplement. For the majority of UK arrivals, a well-briefed standard pickup remains excellent value — but when comfort and clarity matter most, meet-and-greet earns its place.
